In the last three months of the 2016 Presidential election fake news outperformed real news on Facebook. Without getting political, the point I’d like to pull out is that most people can’t call B.S. online when they see it. They lack what I call digital discernment, which is a skill they must be learned.
This is in strake contrast to the “un-College” movement that touts self-study via search engines over higher education. Just Google-ing it can work, assuming you know how to make heads or tails out of the results; which as we’ve seen above most people can’t!
