Something insidious is taking place in professional digital marketing that needs to be addressed. For a long time big business wasn’t serious about digital marketing but now they are. As they dump their elephant dollars into the digital marketing echo system they’re driving up the cost-per-click (CPC) and making pay-per-click advertising (PPC) less viable for small business.

But it’s not just corporate dollars but also corporate culture that is taking over. This is great from a professionalism standpoint, but not so great from a diversity standpoint. The corporate norms of a lack of ethnic diversity have persisted despite the free and open Internet we all espouse.

You’ll Learn:

  • The Internet being a place where anyone can make it is quickly becoming a myth.
  • Corporate dollars and culture is quietly taking over the digital marketing landscape.
  • Why digital marketing is becoming less viable for small business.
  • Why the minority talent pool in pro digital marketing is so thin.

3 Key Points:

  1. Corporate elephant dollars are driving up CPCs and making paid advertising less viable for small business.
  2. Corporate culture is also taking over digital marketing, which is awesome from a professionalism standpoint, but terrible from a diversity standpoint.
  3. Black people face an access to capital issue when professionalizing themselves.
